NBA summer league has come and gone with yet another year of action that, well, we don’t quite know what to make of, yet. While free agency took center stage, the NBA’s young stars, has-beens and never-will-bes came together in Las Vegas for 10 days to produce a chaotic and at times unrecognizably bad version of basketball. Summer league is guard-dominated and lacking in teamwork, both for the same reason: In many cases, guys are playing for their NBA lives.
